Hi I’m Sara.
I work with adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, ADHD, codependency, complex relationships, substance use, and trauma.
MY APPROACH TO THERAPY
I have a holistic and individualistic approach in my work as a therapist. It is essential to honor and respect everyone’s stories, values, beliefs, and learning and processing styles. Therapy is more than unraveling our thoughts and feelings; it is also about how to connect to what and who is most important to us so we can create and live a purposeful life.
I encourage the people I provide therapy to work with their emotions and tune into what their bodies tell them. We tend to get caught up in the day-to-day hustle, and we often don’t stop and listen to what is alive inside of us. If we were to work together, I would help you to become more attuned with yourself and to work toward attaining an open understanding of your needs, feelings, desires, and authentic self.
Often people begin therapy feeling very disconnected to themselves. As they get to know the parts of themselves they have been trying to avoid or push down, that sense of uneasiness dissipates, and they begin to find more peace in their internal and external lives. Integrating one’s emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual side, provides healing in a more balanced way.
I know therapy can often be seen as scary — vulnerability can be uncomfortable, especially with someone you don’t know. With time any apprehensiveness will likely dissipate and it will become a more comfortable process. Don’t worry, I will make sure we laugh and have lighter moments when unpacking the heaviness you have been carrying around. It takes much courage to sit down with someone and share your pain, and I will do everything I can to make it as comfortable as possible.
WHAT I HOPE TO PROVIDE THROUGH COUNSELING AND THERAPY
I know it can feel uncomfortable and anxiety-producing to come to therapy for the very first time. It’s a big step to take knowing you will be talking and opening up to someone you don’t know. We will go at your pace and we can take it slow respecting your comfort level. Honoring what feels best to you is important to me so we can go as slow as you need to. I won’t ever push you to talk about anything until you feel ready.
My goal is to help you feel supported, seen, heard, and understood. Hopefully, the space we create together can ,over time, feel safe enough to share whatever is most important for you. You deserve to have support and to take time and energy to focus on yourself and your own needs.
Together we can enhance your insight and awareness about yourself and expand the tools you need to feel better. We can help you develop strategies to reduce worry, anxiety, depression, and stress in your life. By learning and integrating some changes you will gain a better understanding of yourself and enhance your relationships with others.
