Hi, I’m Joanna.

I am glad you are looking for support, and I am here to help. I provide therapy for children, adolescents, and their families and adults. I truly believe that we should not be alone in our struggles. As a therapist, I strive to fill the gap to make you feel understood, valued, and empowered in your journey to self-acceptance, self-discovery, and healing. I believe therapy allows us to meet with ourselves within a safe, non-judgmental space and provides an opportunity to pause and recognize what we need to make the change happen. The therapy process might be challenging as we dive deeper into our past experiences and hold and honor our difficult emotions before we can let go of what no longer serves us and be fully present in the here and now.

My Approach to Therapy

Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesn’t mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.
– Lisa Olivera

Life is a journey, and we all go through challenging times. I became a therapist to work with individuals and help them face their difficulties and overcome challenges. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship conflicts, self-worth, and life transitions. I believe my role is to help clients process difficult emotions and establish a healthy way of thinking, being, and living. I meet my clients where they are and provide interventions that resonate with them. I love to create new activities and incorporate different mindfulness techniques to enhance clients’ awareness of their thoughts and feelings and their ability to cope with stressful situations and life’s challenges. It’s extremely rewarding to see my clients improve and feel empowered to trust themselves and use new tools to embrace their life with confidence and acceptance.

In my practice, I integrate interventions from various evidence-based treatments to enhance the healing process, including CBT, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Expressive Arts Therapies. Through a trauma-informed perspective, I meet every individual where they are at with presence and compassion. My goal is to provide a safe space for my clients to help them explore and process challenging thoughts, emotions, and past experiences and to support the transformation and healing process. I strive to build a therapeutic relationship, free of judgment and based on acceptance and unconditional positive regard, that enables clients to discover their true, healed selves. You can find me adding to my sessions elements of sound therapy and aromatherapy to enhance my client’s ability to relax and connect with themselves at a deeper level.

I like to work with children, adolescents, their families, and individuals; more specifically, I like to work with women with mental health and relational issues, and life transitions.

About Me

In my free time, I love spending time with my family, long walks with my husband, and connecting with nature. We love to travel and go camping, which allowed us to visit nearly 30 national parks. I love to dance, “get lost” in my kitchen while creating new dishes, and listen to books and podcasts. My way of self-care is to laugh, practice yoga, meditate, or get involved in any creative process, like making colorful, aromatic “bath bombs” or knitting something for my grandson:). When I need to pause and adjust my emotional azimuth, I like to reach for a pen and paper and immerse myself in writing.

Professional Bio

I received my Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from George Williams College of Aurora University, following my passion for working with children, adolescents, and their families. I received my first Master’s degree in Poland and have over 20 years of experience teaching at the preschool and elementary school levels. I have always had a deep desire to help people, and curiosity and understanding of human nature came naturally to me. I am a mother of four adult sons, and recently I became a grandma and my understanding of parenting, relationships, and transitions in life comes not only from my education but also from my own experience and deep inner work.
